Another semester over and already I am planning for the next. Between the two will be a mixture of projects, consultancy and some holiday.
Firstly, I am excited to be working with Google on a student pack encouraging students to use APIs in their projects. I was not surprised to hear that there are now so many Google API's that some of them have yet to develop significant uptake. We hope that by encouraging university students to experiment. particularly on projects that often have business clients involved, we can develop some materials and patterns of use that will be useful and interesting to all concerned. If you are returning student and want to get involved, please let me know.
Secondly, I will be working on some projects with Hyper Island particularly in connection with our new programme Accidental Leaders in Manchester. We had an excellent kick-off workshop two weeks ago. Developing some more materials and activities will be important here too.
Thirdly, I will be involved with some commercial projects with the OTHER media. We have won some amazing new projects and lots of work for existing clients. My summer will certainly involve Paul Smith, Nacro, Stanfords and BAFTA as well as several others. eCommerce in particular seems to be growing up and becoming more technical and I like that. We are also being inundated with iPhone App opportunities and some of those are fascinating.
Fourthly I am involved with some interesting University projects that take my knowledge from working in both industry and academia and work with local businesses to share that knowledge. Both Golfbidder and Shine Marketing will get a chunk of my time over the next few months. If any students or recent graduates are looking for temporary work over the next few months then please let me know.
Finally I intend to have some time off to recharge and think. Switzerland beckons.
What do you think?
