What are the essential tools that every IT person should have in the modern IT world? That is the idea behind a new Kingston University module called IT Toolbox. Over a 12 week semester, first year students will be guided through a series of activities such as blogging, running a server, client and server side scripting, search, social networking and problem solving. Each of those activities will be published here and anyone is welcome to join in.

Final list of Toolbox activity submissions

Here is an updated list of students and the activities submitted Toolbox Activities Final 7 1 (77 KB). Please check carefully.

If you have completed fewer than 8 activities you should have received an email from me informing you that you need to take the examination on Monday 18th of January.

As you can see we have tried to spot students who have entered their Knumbers incorrectly and this means that more students have passed the module.

If you have withdrawn from the module or do not intend to take the examination then please add a comment below (it will not be published).

Do check that your own information is correct and add a comment or send me an email if you think it is wrong.

Jonathan replies: Over 5000 submisisons to deal with - sorry it took so long but so many people can't keep consistent with knumbers, email addresses or even the spelling of their names - it became a bit of a detective exercise.

Hi Jonathan,

This course has been fantastic and life-changing, I liked the involvement of tutor in furthering students career aspirations, with encouragement and advice.

The course has given me a good foundation understanding to build on. Also, the classes have been a great opportunity to meet other fellow students.

Thanks and my God continually grant you wisdom in years to come.

Can you please make this clear....Thanks

Jonathan replies: You have passed if we have 8 activities from you but until I present that formally to the exam board then I cannot confirm that in writing.

Jonathan replies: Are you registered for Toolbox or eCommerce? Go and see Holly Rook.

Hi, Jonathan,

I am sure I have completed more than 8 activities but I received and email about the test. Does this mean I haven't pass and will have to take the test on Monday?

Jonathan replies: If you can send me the receipts and you have 8 or more then you do not need to sit the exam.

Hi Jonathan, when you say that you need to have submitted 8 activities to pass, does that mean ANY 8, or 8 part 1s?

Thanks.

Jonathan replies: Any 8 parts

Just to clarify something....

I have done 7 part 1's and 5 part 2's...will i still have to take the test?

i am not sure if you mean 8 activties each part (8 1's and 8 2's) OR 8 in total meaning i have done 12 activitys...

Can you please let me know...

Thank You!

Jonathan replies: Any 8 pts - you have 12

Hi jonathan! it's funny how i got an e-mail saying i got to take the exam however i completed 7 part 1 and 4 part 2? dont that mean i pass the module? you said before 'This should give you plenty of time to get to the minimum level which is 6 part 1s plus 2 part 2s (or the equivalent).' Is there any mistake? do i still need to take the exam?

Jonathan replies: It did not say you had to take the exam - its said you had to check. Everyone got the same mail so that I could make sure everyone knew what was going on. Please check the spreadsheet to make sure your own situation is understood.

Jonathan replies: Yes - 12 is a pass (60%). I had to send the same email to everyone.

What do you think?
